New York-based duo PWR BTTM have shared the video for single ‘West Texas’, taken from the fantastic 2015 release Ugly Cherries.

Aside from being excited that it was filmed amongst the bones of the abandoned Rock-a-Hoola Waterpark, a place I myself have crept through before, the video is a wonderful visual of glitter guns and colour set against a kitschy faded scene of dust and desolation – a fitting visual for the track.

“I planned for the term ‘revisiting desolation’ to be the crux of the video, ” Says director H.S. Naji. “The location plays as all those broken promises, false hopes, and crushed hearts everyone experiences. We see these two personas walk through that familiar cemetery of attractions — and at least make due with pool paraphernalia and glitter.”

The allure of PWR BTTM, apart from being bold and catchy in their ‘cheekbones’ music, is the sincerity of their songs and wonderful bounce of their music, even when the topics are contending with the shittier things in life.

Ugly Cherries is available now via bandcamp, with a reissue on vinyl out on April 15th through Miscreant Records & Father/Daughter Records.
