Ok so if you’re anything like me you’ve been weighing up the possibilities of packing your tent and sleeping bag and trekking to Golden Plains next year after last night’s lineup announcement.

Well for anyone else who’s eyes bugged out of their skulls when the spotted Sleater-Kinney amongst the list of choice acts, never fear! The band have today announced a headline show for the lucky fans of Melbourne. Taking place Wednesday 9 March at The Croxton, tickets go on sale tomorrow, Friday 16 October, via here.

Sleater-Kinney came crashing out of the ’90s Pacific Northwest riot grrrl scene, setting a new bar for punk’s political insight and emotional impact. The band put out seven searing albums in 10 years before going on indefinite hiatus in 2006. Almost a decade later, the trio have come back together to record and release their triumphant album No Cities To Love in January this year.

UPDATE: Sleater-Kinney have announced a second Melbourne show in wake of selling out the first. Apparently other Australian cities will also get some love with more shows to be announced soon.
