The Jezabels have just announced the cancellation of their upcoming world tour, due to keyboardist Heather Shannon requiring medical treatment for ovarian cancer.

In a statement published today on the band’s website and facebook, The Jezabels explain the decision to cancel based on not wanting to tour without the full band, allowing Shannon to undergo further immediate treatment for the cancer she has been diagnosed with for the last three years.

Additionally, Shannon spoke of her personal frustration of having to step back from the band, saying that she would have “preferred to not let this diagnosis get in the way of getting on with life.”

For fans with tickets to the tour, refunds are available from the point of purchase. Anyone who preordered a copy of the upcoming album SYNTHIA that was grouped with a ticket purchase will still receive their preorder.

We here at Banshee wish Heather Shannon all the best with her treatment and for a speedy recovery.

As prompted by Shannon on their facebook, if anyone who wishes to make a donation to either help awareness or research they can do so through Ovarian Cancer Australia or Australian New Zealand Gynaecological Oncology Group.
